In a national survey of 7,000 men and women conducted by Chillisauce.co.uk, 32% of men and women voted 24 December to be the best day to get engaged. Similarly, Argos has revealed it typically sells almost 200% more diamond rings in the run-up to Christmas compared to Valentine’s Day, with sales reaching an all-time-high on the last day of advent. However, if you’ve already decided upon when, just not how, the same Chillisauce poll found that a simple approach is often best. Rather than grand or elaborate gestures, over 50% of women prefer a straight up ‘Will you marry me?’.
